February 9, 2019 by Jason. The Ford Focus utilizes a crankshaft position sensor in order to regulate the engine timing. This sensor uses a reluctor to gauge the position of the crank. If your car is still driving OK the turbo will be alright, the problem is that the black pitch like substance that is forming at the top of the injector can ultimately get into the oil, that can cause turbo failure and its made worse by the over long oil change intervals, if you are not going to do anything about the injector
