The diesel filter is on the fuel system of your Audi Q7. It is placed right next to the injection system. In other words, it is located right next to the engine block. You will recognize it by its cylindrical shape. If, however, you cannot find this filter, do not hesitate to consult the maintenance guide for your Audi Q7.

For the Audi A7 UK spec, right hand drive, 3.0l V6 TDi diesel, the fuel filter is located under the floor where the feet of the driver are. Access requires removing 2 under floor trim pieces as detailed above. Tool to remove hoses would have saved 5 minutes but a large flat bladed screwdriver worked. Easy job generally.
That’s a strong indication that a fuel injector is leaking. If it is leaking, consider it a fire hazard and don’t run the engine again until the injector has been replaced.
