I've owned a single H Ray, HH Ray, an HS Sterling, and finally settled on an HS Ray. For me, the HS configuration, with the Stingray alnico pickups is just killer. I liked the HH Ray too, but found I could get tones closer to classic P or J with the HS and various coil combinations. Double pickup Sterlings DO sound quite different.
